My Qualifications and Experience
I am a qualified counsellor with an Advanced Diploma in Counselling.
I am also a qualified counselling supervisor with a Postgraduate Certificate in Counselling Supervision and can offer low cost supervision to trainee counsellors.(For my rates for qualified counsellors, please see the FAQ page.)
I am a BACP accredited counsellor ( British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and abide by its Code of Practice. I am also on the United Kingdom Register of Counsellors (UKRC).
Prior to setting up my private practice, I gained experience working as a voluntary counsellor for Barnet Carers and Marie Curie Hospice in Hampstead. At Barnet Carers I counselled people who were caring for relatives, spouses or children. At the hospice I was a counsellor to those who had been bereaved through cancer. I am also trained to work with people who have been diagnosed with cancer.
I am registered with the Barnardo's agency to provide counselling to those affected by adoption. This includes birth mothers, those who have been adopted or who have adopted children.
I have had extensive experience in education including working at senior management level. My work with families and children has helped me understand more about the complexity of family life and the demands of work. I specialised in working with children under the age of five, including those with Special Educational Needs. Some of my clients have been parents of young children with such needs.
