Frequently Asked Questions
How much will it cost?I charge £40 for individuals and £50 for couples per session.
How long is each session and how many will I need?
Each session lasts for 1 hour.
The number of sessions needed varies. Some people find they achieve what they want within 8 to 10 sessions. Others choose to stay in counselling for longer; for a year or more.
There is no set time limit and I will help you decide when you want to end counselling.
If you are concerned about the cost of counselling, we can agree a fixed number of sessions when we meet.
How often should I come for counselling?
Many people come for a weekly session and aim to come at the same time on the same day. However, some people's schedules vary and I try to accommodate this as far as possible.
How will I know if counselling with you is for me?
For counselling to be effective, it's important for you to feel safe to talk about anything and to feel that you can trust the counsellor. The first session provides an opportunity for you to talk a little about the reasons you want counselling and to ask me any questions and find out if you feel comfortable talking to me. I often advise people to come for a further 3-5 sessions to see how they feel about counselling, but there is no obligation to book any further sessions after the initial one.
What is the counselling room like?
I work from my home using a quiet, comfortable room, where we will not be disturbed.
What are your qualifications and training?
I am a qualified, accredited counsellor with an Advanced Diploma in Counselling and a qualified supervisor with a Postgraduate Certificate in Counselling Supervision. For more details see "My Qualifications and Experience" section.
